i know people on here may joke about blowing up datacenters, but let’s be honest and admit that datacenters are really big and it’s probably not feasible to blow up a whole datacenter
blow up the hvac systems of a datacenter instead
Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that I have a filter to exclude and not see 'KDE' and I follow 'AlpineLinux', what happens in #mastodon when there's a toot with #alpinelinux and #kde? Does it show in my timeline or not?
there's a "style try on" skill and jesus christ man

I wanted to write this post because I want the Fedora project to have better security throughout their operating systems. I believe the first step to doing that, is to use another memory allocator that mitigates heap memory corruption and use-after-frees, alongside lots of other features to harden one of the most important functions in all modern systems as far as I am aware. hardened_malloc[1], by the GrapheneOS project, fits this description perfectly. Using this benefits not just the Fedora project, but it will also push other distributions to using hardened_malloc, and then the Linux ecosystem will benefit as a whole from the provided security. Good security is an essential part of good privacy, so this will also benefit the privacy of all Linux distributions.
Given the above paragraph, I want you to promote this thread[2] to anyone who is interested in security and privacy. You can also help by testing hardened_malloc on your own Linux systems and sharing your results with me through any means of contact, so that I can replicate the behaviour and make bug reports where necessary. For that, please see this page[3] for my preferred methods of contact.
I don't think I'll be able to attract a lot of people with this post on my own, so boosting will be massively appreciated. Thank you for reading this until this point. This isn't my longest toot yet but I feel like this is my most passionate, as I deeply care about security, GrapheneOS and the Fedora project. Again, thank you! (^_^)

Been a while, huh?
I'm currently reworking my profile to match my current information, it's been almost a year since I used this profile and it shows. I'm on my phone at the moment but I'm going to log in on my desktop later, where I can actually do most of my changes.
Keep a look out, I'm making this my main profile again. :)
@amadaluzia welcome back!
How can you know a product is sustainable? Look for the EU Ecolabel!
From detergents & textiles to furniture & hotel stays, it helps you find products and services that do a great job while meeting solid environmental criteria.
And more Europeans are catching on! According to a recent EU survey:
🌱 81% trust that EU Ecolabel products have a lower environmental impact than similar products
🌼 Nearly 1 in 2 Europeans recognise the logo and buy products carrying it
@EUCommission No, never seen this label. Well, I keep looking for it. 👍
Btw I have heard at least one prominent FOSS person (I'm choosing to not fill their notifications here by identifying them) that nobody cares about attribution requirements (and particularly not enforcing them). But to me, attribution is what I care about MORE than any other licensing requirements, more than copyleft "share-alike" style provisions, etc.
If you feel similarly, it would be good to hear on this thread. Perhaps even copying a similar notice into your project is a good idea.
@cwebber duh, foss isn't a great career compared to alternatives[1], so the core reason to do it finding fellow hackers and recognition, with modest money when you are lucky. if you skip attribution you devoid the knowledge graph from edges that connect people.
[1] unless you are not a hacker but an advocate with funding, that's a different kind of foss career with different incentives.
I know it's still very much a WIP, but I'm excited to eventually try out AlpineBSD

Qiulae Wong was questioned about this on BHN and asked if Labour got fewer votes than National because Greens had taken a large slice of votes off Labour, would you first talk to the strongest bloc.
Qiulare responded saying no, if National gets more votes than Labour we will talk with National and (here's the quiet bit out loud) only talk with Labour if unable to form a govt with National.
BHN asked again whether Opportunity would negotiate with both parties for the best deal and Qiulae said NO. 🤔 #NZPol RED FLAG

Then on Saturday night at 20, your favourite provider hits you up with an email: 'Ok, syspatch-ed the physical server and rebooted, all good. I'm here if you need anything'.
They're truly inimitable.
Thanks, @OpenBSDAms !
Last week I stopped playing the old Amiga Ambermoon #retro computer #roleplay #game after I finished the starting quests on the first island. I lost interest and it was again because of something that I never like in rpgs: "Grinding to survive". So, I decided against going now below Waterdeep and rid the city of the evil that hides in its sewers. 👁️
But I wanted a second try in my "I want to play some the of the roleplay games. I enjoyed when I was young"...
Today I found my old "Das Schwarze Auge /Realms of Arcania" discs: "Schicksalsklinge", "Sternenschweif" and "Shadow over Riva" in the attic (sic!;-).
Yeah, it's a round based crpg. And I played through all three of them in the classical way. I played the DSA pen and paper with some friends in my youth. The whole introduction into AD&D came with the computer and EOB.
But I know I can work around the fighting system to fight pesky Orcs, Goblins and other creatures and let the computer do it automatically instead for DSA2 and 3.
Heh, never worshipped "Rondra" a lot, was more of a "Firun&Ifirn", "Phex" or "Hesinde" type of person. 😉 So, I want to play it more like an action adventure. If it fails me, we meet in the face of "Boron" :-).
Now setting up dosbox on my #RunBSD and the games my NAS and I'm off to Thorval, the Salamander Stones and then Riva for a while.
He's so serene
@randahl why would European Union try to pursue countries for their agenda when they can’t form a consensus within themselves.
@vsharma2430 of you want to criticize other countries, you might want to share your own country on your profile.
